Plumbing Pipe Tape

Pipe tape is something just about every DIYer has run into when replacing a shower head or faucet. But what is it and why do we use it? Pipe tape is PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and it creates a watertight seal in plumbing pipe joins. PTFE - also called plumber’s tape - is water repellant, won’t react with pipe materials, high-temp.resistant, and malleable. For it to work well, it has to be applied toa dry connection, pulled taught, and wrapped on the male end of thepipe in the direction of the thread about 3-6 times. Not sure you’lldo it right? Give us a call, we’ll put the plumber in plumber’s tape!
