I need to drain my water heater?

Updated: Jul 1

Have you ever drained your tank type water heater? If your answer is “No,” or “I didn’t know I needed to,” this is your opportunity to “grow with the flow.” Tank type water heaters should be drained once a year to prevent the build up of sediment (Calcium Carbonate which looks like sand). While that might not sound scary, over time it can cause irrepairable damage to your water heater and possibly provide unsafe water conditions for your home. The good news is that whether you are a capable DIYer or really good at calling a professional plumber, you can add this to your yearly home maintenance schedule to keep your water heater healthy and hot.
