To PEX or not to PEX...

Updated: Jul 1

Some might have noticed the growing existence of blue and red flexible pipe in the plumbing area at your local home improvement retailer. This flexible piping is called PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) and was created in Europe and is now rapidly gaining attention and use for both new construction and remodeling here in the U.S. It’s been around since the 1980s in Europe, but did not become popular in the U.S. until versions were created to handle the higherlevels of chlorine found in our water systems. Today, PEX is quickly replacing copper and galvanized steel in water supply lines.
